Instead of a steering wheel, you use two levers. For new zero turn drivers it is helpful to visualize pushing a shopping cart. Here are some helpful suggestions:
Push both forward = straight ahead
Pull both back = reverse
Push left only = turn right
Push right only = turn left
It takes a little practice, but Spartan mowers are built with responsive controls to help smooth that learning curve.
On average - a 42"–48" deck handles under 1 acre well. For 1–3 acres: 48"–54" deck, and for 3+ acres: a 60"+ deck works great. Spartan offers deck widths from 42" up to 72", so there's a fit for almost any yard size and preference. Check out this blog for more helpful information.
Absolutely. If you want top-tier performance and durability, a Spartan model will power through residential mowing with ease. Just be aware they're heavier and could be more mower than a small yard can handle. For more information regarding matching the mower to your yard size, check out this helpful blog.
The Toro Company (TTC) acquired the Intimidator Group family of brands on Jan. 14, 2022. TTC owns multiple brands in the outdoor power equipment industry, such as Exmark, BOSS, Ditch Witch, and Ventrac, all of which retain their independence and operate as separate divisions of TTC. While the acquisition brought about a change in ownership and provided access to additional resources, Spartan is still headquartered in Batesville, Arkansas. Spartan Mowers are built by a grassroots company, based in Batesville, Arkansas. The Spartan brand wasn't proposed in a fancy conference room at the top of a skyscraper. Far from the boardroom, local entrepreneur Robert Foster sketched the first designs on a napkin at his kitchen table, and forever changed the mowing industry. Quite a bit has changed over the years, but one thing remains the same—when you climb up on a Spartan mower, you're sitting on one of the toughest, best-built zero-turns on the market — and Equipment Solutions Outdoors is proud to be your local authorized dealer.
You can buy and test drive Spartan Mowers right here at Equipment Solutions Outdoors in Laddonia, MO. You can reach out via our Contact Us.
While riding lawn mowers are controlled by the front wheels using a traditional steering wheel, zero turn mowers are operated by left and right steering arms that independently control the rear wheels. That's what gives you a turning radius of zero. They're a little tricky to get the hang of when you first start driving, but remember turning requires arm movements much like operating a shopping cart. If you want to go left, push forward with your right hand, and if you want to go right, push forward with your left. Reverse is super easy—just pull back on the control arms.
Spartan offers a wide range of zero-turn mowers including residential and commercial models from 42" to 72" deck sizes to fit your needs. See the full line up here.
