We get this question a lot, so let's clear it up upfront: Equipment Solutions Outdoors does not currently rent equipment. We're a Spartan and Echo dealer in Laddonia, Missouri - we sell, service, and demo the equipment, but we don't run a rental fleet.

If you're looking to rent a mower, tractor, or piece of outdoor power equipment, the closest options in Central Missouri are usually Home Depot tool rental in Columbia or Jefferson City, or a local equipment rental yard like Sunbelt or United Rentals. For lawn mowing specifically, hiring a lawn care service for a one-time job often pencils out cheaper than renting and doing it yourself, especially once you factor in pickup and return.

That said, if you landed here because you're trying to figure out whether to rent or buy, we can probably help with that decision in a way most rental places won't.

Why people end up renting (and when it makes sense)

Renting a zero-turn mower or commercial-grade equipment usually makes sense in three scenarios:

One-time big job. You're clearing a property you just bought, mulching a half-acre of leaves, or knocking down a season of overgrowth. A weekend rental runs $150-300 and gets the job done without owning the machine forever.

Trying before buying. Some folks rent to see whether a zero-turn fits their property before spending the money on one. This is the case where we can actually save you money.

Borrowed equipment broke down. The friend whose mower you usually borrow finally said "find your own."

Try-before-you-buy: a better option than renting

If you're considering buying a Spartan but want to make sure it fits your property, you don't need to rent one to find out. We offer free demos at the dealership - you can run any model on our test lot and get a feel for the deck size, the handle response, and the seat fit before you write a check.

For a more realistic test, we can also arrange a property visit on a case-by-case basis (Central Missouri only, usually within 30 miles of Laddonia) where you can run the mower on your own grass. That tells you more in 20 minutes than a rental weekend will.

Buying makes more sense than rental math suggests

Here's the math nobody at the rental counter does for you:

A weekend rental on a 50-something-inch zero-turn is typically $200-275 plus fuel and a damage deposit. Mow your property four times in a season that way and you've spent $1,000+ on rentals. Do it for two seasons and you've spent enough to put a down payment on a financed mower that you actually own.

Spartan also runs financing through Sheffield Financial - typical promotions are 0% for 48 months on qualifying models, which means the monthly payment on a Shield HD or RZ-HD often lands close to or below what you'd pay to rent a comparable mower for a single weekend per month during the cutting season.

If you'd rather have it done than buy a mower

For one-off jobs, hiring a local lawn-care operator is usually the best move. Central Missouri has plenty of LCO crews who'll do a property cleanup or first-cut for a flat rate, with their own commercial-grade equipment, and you don't have to load, unload, or fuel anything.
